BENEFITS OF PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICALS
A Pre-Employment Medical is a valuable tool for employers to use to identify any potential medical issues a person may have, that could cause harm to the person or colleagues they would work with if appointed to the role.
A Pre-Employment Medical is also an opportunity to baseline health assessments for employees who are exposed to hazards e.g., Hearing test baseline for noise exposure and lung function test where employees may have been or may be exposed to fumes, dust, solvents and/or dangerous airborne particles. A section on Crystalline Silica Exposure is also addressed (see Health Monitoring for more information).
Hearing and Lung function tests meet compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015.
Our Pre-Employment Medical will take approximately 1 hour to complete.
Other risk assessments will be conducted during a Pre-Employment Medical:
Cardiovascular assessment - blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, heart rate, cholesterol screening – for cardiovascular disease, blood glucose screening for diabetes.
Vision screening - Snellen chart to check visual acuity, near and distant vision, peripheral vision, Ishihara test for color blindness.
Functional Capacity assessment for those roles which have a high musculoskeletal risk factor.
Manual Handling assessment for roles or work, tasks that often requires workers to lift, push, pull, move, carry objects, or repetitive manual handling.
Drug and alcohol testing is also included in a Pre-Employment Medical. We can also test for Synthetic Cannabinoids if required.
All reports will be emailed to you within 24 hours of completing the medical and any issues will be clearly identified. Our Nurse Assessors are happy to discuss and clarify any issues with you.
